2009 and Beyond − From the Chairman
First off let me, on behalf of GCTTA, wish all affiliates and supporters a healthy and prosperous 2009. I hope that you are all well rested and ready for what lies ahead.
Given our successes during 2008, 2009 will be a continuation of our intense work ethic that has helped us grow the sport to new levels of participation, coaching abilities and technical expertise. As an association, this year we have the added responsibility of undertaking and completing the awarded Lotto grant. A grant that will aid us greatly in developing Table Tennis around the Gauteng Central region.
We also wait with bated breath on the results of the poll undertaken by SATTB during the closing months of 2008 on whether or not to host combined national tournaments, as the result will impact on our ability, in some way or another, to participate at national levels.
As for the proposed changes to the 2009 League season, we look forward to making the sport more accessible to all enthusiasts with the help of all affiliates.
As 2009 is part of the two year cycle of the executive tenure, there will be no voting in of new executive members at the AGM that is scheduled for the 26 January. This eventuality allows us the freedom-of-time to discuss the implementation of the Lotto project, 2009 League proposals, coaching initiatives and sponsorships.
Without any further ado, here’s to many successes and accomplishments.
Yours in Sport
Filipe
Chairman
