Wits Open 3rd May

The tournament, which was labeled “The One” was hosted at Wits University and was well supported by a number of Table Tennis Clubs. Players also came from Pretoria, which added a higher level of competition.  Although the tournament was essentially for Open Men and Women a number of juniors participated, which was encouraging.

The Women’s event was won by Danica Schlome (Maccabi TT Club) beating Angy Smith, of Gauteng North, by 3-1

Chijioke Osuji(Maccabi TT Club) defeated Itumeleng Molahloe (better know as “T Boss”), also of Gauteng North, 3-2 in a closely contested exciting final, to win the Men’s title.

Wits need to be commended on hosting an enjoyable and well organised competition. Other Clubs are encouraged to hold similar tournaments to provide for the development of Table Tennis in the Gauteng region.
